"The University of Georgia could use its property next to the State Botanical Gardens for greater economic benefit than the current proposal for the National Bio- and Agro-Defense Facility by using the property for a demonstration and research farm for organic farming.
The organic foods industry is growing. You can tell by the space dedicated to organic foods in the major supermarkets. The supermarkets know the economic advantage of selling organic foods. People are more and more concerned about their health and the health of their children so they are buying organic food and paying a premium for it. According to the Organic Trade Association, the projected organic food market for 2007 was more than $20 billion."
